Hundreds of Moroccans are currently awaiting repatriation as they found themselves stranded in the UK. Sick, distressed and running out of resources, these Moroccan nationals are desperately trying to leave the country and get home as soon as possible.
According to Israeli Army radio, Morocco would have reportedly refused to repatriate Israeli nationals stranded in the Kingdom. Quoted by Israeli media, the same source explains that Morocco’s opposition to the plan would be due to Emirati intervention.
In a meeting with MPs at the House of Representatives, the Minister in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad asked nationals stranded in other countries and awaiting repatriation to «be patient».
Marlene and Dan are two American citizens who found themselves stranded in Morocco at a time when the country imposed strict travel restrictions to avoid the spread of the coronavirus. Alongside their three children, the couple is among the tourists and foreigners who struggled on their way out of the Kingdom.
In March 2019, Morocco repatriated eight of its nationals who had fought for ISIS in Syria. Since then, several families have urged the Moroccan authorities to repatriate of women and their children stuck in the region.
