Two Royal Navy patrol boats intercepted two inflatable boats on Wednesday night, heading towards the Canary Islands. The boats were apprehended approximately 39 km southwest of Tarfaya and 41 km northwest of Tan-Tan, carrying a total of 76 would-be irregular migrants.
According to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the migrants comprised 54 Sub-Saharans and 22 Moroccans. They were provided with necessary medical attention before being transported to the ports of Laayoune and Tan-Tan, respectively. The Royal Gendarmerie will take over for the customary administrative procedures.
