Washington hosted,Wednesday, a meeting between representatives of Morocco and Chad. Morocco's ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, confirmed the discussions via social media, writing X : «I had the pleasure of exchanging with the Prime Minister of Chad on our two countries long-standing ties and our shared commitment for a peaceful and prosperous Africa».

The meeting took place on the sidelines of a conference organized by the Atlantic Council institute in the American capital, which Chadian Prime Minister Succès Masra attended. Masra, a former political opponent, was appointed by Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby in January 2024.

It is worth noting that Mali, Niger, Chad, and Burkina Faso all endorsed King Mohammed VI's initiative granting Sahel countries access to the Atlantic Ocean, an announcement made last December.

Relations between Morocco and N'Djamena have been positive, especially since 2006 when the Chadian government officially severed ties with the «RASD» during a visit to Agadir. This position was reiterated by Chad's former Foreign Minister, Amine Abba Siddick, during his visit to Rabat in October 2020.
