Two women were killed on Tuesday evening when a mini gas cylinder exploded in a house in the Beni Mekada neighborhood of Tangier, local authorities reported. The explosion triggered a fire in the four-story, single-family home, resulting in burns of varying severity for six other individuals.
Upon notification, local authorities, security services, and civil protection teams promptly arrived at the scene. The injured were transported to Mohammed V Hospital in Tangier for treatment, while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
The explosion caused structural damage to the house, prompting a mixed technical committee to inspect the building and determine necessary safety measures. The house was initially evacuated as a precaution, and the surrounding area was secured to prevent further risks.
Local authorities have opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to uncover the circumstances surrounding this incident.
