A man was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon after being identified as the person behind a threatening voicemail left at the mosque in Sucy-en-Brie. «You want to be victims, filthy pigs... we’re going to slit your throats», the suspect said during a call made on Thursday evening. Driss Soussi, president of the Sucy Cultural Association of Muslims (ACMS), confirmed to Le Parisien on Sunday morning that he reported the incident shortly after discovering it.
On Friday afternoon, a man came to the mosque and revealed that the call had been made by his nephew. After the mosque’s president filed a complaint at the Boissy-Saint-Léger police station, investigators were able to identify the individual as the caller. He later confessed and claimed to have been drunk at the time.
According to Le Parisien, a psychiatric evaluation has been requested. Driss Soussi praised the «swift response of the police and judicial authorities», noting that it «perhaps shows the seriousness of the case». He emphasized that such incidents are «very rare» in Sucy and said he is awaiting the outcome of the investigation before deciding whether to pursue further legal action.
