Spanish police dismantle car theft network linked to Morocco

The Spanish National Police have successfully dismantled a criminal network that was operating between Madrid and Guadalajara, responsible for the theft of over 50 cars. These vehicles were then resold to intermediaries who distributed them to repair workshops across various regions in Morocco.

According to security sources, the operation led to the arrest of eight individuals. The network specifically targeted between six and ten cars each week, focusing on parking areas designated for holiday periods, including those near the «Adolfo Suárez – Madrid Barajas» Airport.

Once stolen, the vehicles were moved to so-called «cooling areas», secure spots used to hide cars during the critical days following a theft. These locations were often found in residential neighborhoods within the city of Guadalajara.

This strategy allowed the network to ensure the vehicles were not equipped with tracking devices, thereby complicating police efforts to locate them.
