The White House has included Morocco in the task force tasked with ensuring security for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the U.S. Embassy in Rabat announced in a congratulatory message posted on X.
The move comes «as we look forward to celebrating 250 years of friendship with Morocco. This is another opportunity to further strengthen our security cooperation and share our love of sports», the embassy said.
The announcement follows ongoing security cooperation between the two countries. A delegation from the FBI visited Morocco during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, touring several host cities and holding talks in Rabat with Abdellatif Hammouchi, head of the DGSN-DGST.
Morocco has developed recognized expertise in securing major international events. Its security services notably contributed to operations during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
