General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) elected Mehdi Tazi as president and Mohamed Bachiri as vice-president during its elective General Assembly held Thursday in Casablanca.

The two were elected for a three-year term after securing 3,773 votes out of 4,123 cast, representing 91.5% of the total vote.

Speaking after the election, Tazi thanked members of the confederation for their trust. He said Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, has undergone major transformation and now stands out for its stability at all levels, the growing strength of its industry, and a continuously improving business climate. In this context, he praised the commitment of Moroccan companies to this momentum.

Tazi added that this ambition would guide the mandate he is beginning alongside Bachiri at the head of the organization.

Outgoing CGEM president Chakib Alj congratulated the newly elected leadership, recalling that the previous team, elected in 2020, had taken office in a particularly difficult context marked by the Covid-19 crisis and global economic tensions.

A graduate of Télécom Paris Sud in 1999 and holder of an MBA from INSEAD in 2004, Tazi is the CEO of ASK Capital, a holding company active in insurance, real estate, and business services.

He also serves on the boards of several public and private institutions, including the Moroccan Interprofessional Pension Fund (CIMR), the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), Tamwilcom, the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), the Moroccan Preschool Foundations, the Higher Institute of Commerce and Business Administration (ISCAE), and the CGEM itself.
