A snake charmer died after being bitten by his snake in Jemaa el-Fna, Al Akhbar said today, as reported by the Mexican newspaper El Informador.
The victim, aged 46, was bitten last month. he was transferred to the Mohammed VI hospital in Marrakech, where he died on Tuesday. The attack occurred while the man was feeding the animal.
Charmers are not the only victims of snake bites. Tourists were also bitten, mistakenly thinking that the venom had been removed to avoid any danger.
Travelers are regularly invited by the charmers to take pictures with the snakes putting them around their neck, the latter ensure that they are harmless.
