Two police officers wounded in clashes with African immigrants

Two police officers were wounded on Wednesday 2nd of August after clashing with African immigrants who attempted to cross the borders illegally, Middle East Monitor report today.

Clashes broke off between the police and African migrants at the coast of Hawara near the city of Tangier. According to the same source, which quotes the Turkish news agency Anadolu, «immigrants threw stones at the police officers when they surrounded them, injuring two officers».

«The intervention carried out by the army and the police forces resulted in the arrest of 19 African immigrants, including 11 women and children», a security officer, who requested anonymity, told the same source. Local authorities were informed about the illegal operation.

For the record, 67 Sub-Saharan migrants have forced their way into Ceuta on Tuesday 1st of August. 14 of them were injured when trying to enter the city. In total, 200 Sub-Saharans have attempted to cross the 60-meter fence on the same day but only the above-mentioned 67 managed it.
