The Spanish authorities have identified a cell composed of a dozen people linked to Thursday's attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils, the French daily newspaper Le Parisien said on Friday.
It informs that at least two of the alleged terrorists died in the explosion of the hideout. Five, including the three previously identified, were reportedly killed in the second attack in the Spanish seaside resort while four people were arrested. While the police is still looking for the last one namely Younes Abouyaaqoub.
Born in Mrirt, the latter suspect, of Moroccan origin, reportedly rented a van on Thursday early in the afternoon, which was found abandoned in Vic, north of Barcelona, and a white Renault Kangoo car that was reported to the French police. Abouyaaqoub is said to have crossed the border, the French media said.
On Friday night, three of the five terrorists killed in the Cambrils attack were identified. They are Moussa Oukabir, Saïd Aallaa and Mohamed Hychami, respectively 17, 18 and 24 years old, all of Moroccan origin. All lived in the town of Ripoll, about a hundred kilometers (60 miles) north of Barcelona, concludes Le Parisien.
The mystery remains the same as for the driver of the van who mowed passers-by on La Rambla in Barcelona on Thursday afternoon. His identity has not yet been revealed.
While several Spanish media had first mentioned the name of Moussa Oukabir, 17, this Saturday, they now speak of Younes Abouyaaqoub as the suspected driver of the La Rambla van.
