The city of Ripoll hosted a rally against terrorism on Saturday, after the two terrorist attacks that killed 14 people and injured about 100 others. «The gathering was marked by the presences of the parents and relatives of the terrorists killed,» reports the Spanish daily El Pais.

Among these parents, the mother of Younes Abouyaaqoub, who is believed to be the driver of the van. «I want him to be detained and I do not want him to be killed like the others,» said Hanno Ghanim, the mother of Younes Abouyaaqoub, whose brother Houssaine was killed by the police in Cambrils. She also added that «Islam is not about this», reacting to the attacks.

The Hychami family and the Oukabir also expressed their sadness and shock. «We know nothing. We did not suspect that they could do something like that,» a member of the family told reporters. «They lived a normal life. We never imagined that this could happen».

The family members pointed out that someone had to indoctrinate those young people. «We believe there is a bigger brain" who managed to enlist their children», they told the media.

The demonstration, which was organized following a shared appeal on Whats App, was attended by the mothers of the alleged members of the terrorist cell. They waved signs with slogans like «No to terrorism» or «Not in my name», concludes El Pais.
