Amir Peretz, the former leader of the Israeli Labor Party, is invited by the Youth Association for Culture and Arts to attend a conference in Morocco. The president of the NGO, Amazigh artist Abdelali Rahmani, has chosen the Israeli former Minister of Defense because of his Moroccan origins.

Inviting Peretz who was born in Bejaad on March the 9th, 1952, shows that «Islam is a religion of co-existence, dialogue, and tolerance», reports Aswat News. According to the same source, Peretz is expected to chair a conference on co-existence in Morocco.

Long before the Israeli MP reacts to the invitation, associations known for their opposition to normalization with Israel stood up against his presence at the conference.

The last time Amir Peretz went to Morocco was on October 8, 2017. He was leading a delegation of Israeli parliamentarians invited to Rabat to attend a conference organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, in partnership with the World Trade Day Organization.

On February 17, 2006, Amir Peretz, then leader of the Labor Party, was received by King Mohammed VI.
