Head of government Saadeddine El Othmani condemned, Thursday in Rabat, the despicable criminal act of murdering two foreign tourists in Imlil, in the province of Al Haouz.

Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting, El Othmani said that Morocco flatly condemns this appalling crime, a rejected act that runs counter the Moroccan values and customs, as well as the traditions of the region where the crime took place.

He extended, on this occasion, his heartfelt condolences to the families of the two victims and their countries, describing these criminal acts as a stab in the back of Morocco and Moroccans.

He also lauded efforts by the central bureau for judicial investigations (BCIJ), under the directorate general for national territory surveillance, as well as police services at the Marrakesh prefecture, authorities, the royal gendarmerie and auxiliary forces that are in charge of the country's security.

El Othmani commended BCIJ's promptness in arresting the alleged culprits, adding that details on the crime will be revealed shortly and that the competent authorities will keep the national and international public opinion informed about any development related to this case.
