Morocco arrests an Italian national suspected of being leader of «Camorra»

Marrakesh police services arrested, on Monday, an Italian national suspected of being one of the leaders of Italian criminal network «Mazzarella», which belongs to international criminal organization «Camorra».

Aged 44, the suspect was apprehended in the Ourika region, near Marrakech, pursuant to a red notice issued against him by International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) on January 7, 2019, at the request of the Italian judicial authorities, for his alleged involvement in a case of premeditated murder and possession of unauthorized firearms, said the national police (DGSN) in a statement.

The suspect was remanded in police custody for the extradition procedure, it said, noting that the Italian authorities have been notified of the arrest decision.

The arrest of the Italian citizen is part of the implementation of security cooperation with the Italian authorities, and of the reinforcement of the search mechanisms for individuals wanted by international arrest warrants, it concluded.
