The United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has updated «in full and re-issued» its advice travel for citizens planning to visit Morocco this summer. Reviewed on Tuesday, June 25, the document warns against «incidents involving the use of knives» in the Kingdom.

«There have been incidents involving the use of knives against tourists in street attacks, thefts and burglaries in the major cities and along beaches, where you should avoid quiet areas and be vigilant at all times, particularly after dark», FCO wrote in its updated travel advice.

The office warned UK citizens against «pick-pocketing, bag snatching and drive-by motorcycle theft of visible jewelry and handbags», urging tourists to be «vigilant when asking for directions and using ATMs as crime and aggressive begging can occur».

When it comes to terror threat, FCO indicated that «terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Morocco», recalling that in December 2018 two foreign nationals were murdered while hiking near Mount Toubkal.

The same document reported that almost «700,000 visitors from the UK» travel to Morocco every year.
