Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita has reportedly met with his Jordanian counterpart in the Kingdom, diplomatic sources told London-based newspapers Al-Quds Al-Arabi and Asharq Al-Awsat.

After it was announced, last week, that President Donald Trump’s senior advisor Jared Kushner would visit Morocco, as part of his second tour to the Middle East, the Arab-language dailies reported that several officials from Jordan, Oman and the United Arab Emirates flew to the Kingdom for the same reason.

Quoting Arab diplomatic sources, Al-Quds Al-Arabi wrote on Sunday that Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi flew to Morocco on Thursday to meet his Moroccan counterpart at a time when «Kushner was expected to held talks with Arab officials in the country».

The same source reveals that Safadi arrived in Rabat on August the 1st to meet Bourita. However, the busy schedule of the Moroccan Minister forced his Jordanian counterpart to head for Tangier. The two ministers held talks in a hotel in Morocco, Moroccan diplomatic sources told the same newspaper, without making mention of the reasons behind this meeting.

The same sources indicated that during the same day, Trump’s son-in-law, who unveiled the economic phase of the «Deal of the Century» in June, held a meeting in Rabat with the he Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah.

Kushner and Arab officials in Morocco

Asharq Al-Awsat has confirmed the same information, quoting a diplomatic source in Rabat. It also reported that while Safadi was in Morocco, Bourita was seen with Omani Foreign Minister in a Rabat hotel.

On Friday, Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post said that Kushner arrived Thursday in Morocco to meet the Emirati Crown Prince and Omani Foreign Minister. Quoting an administration official, the newspaper wrote that «the meetings were extremely productive and came as a follow-up to Bahrain's 'Peace and Prosperity' workshop».

Kushner’s trip to Morocco was the final stage of his second Middle East tour, during which he visited Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

On May 28th and while trying to drum up support for his peace plan and the Bahrain conference, Kushner visited the Kingdom for two days. During his stay in Morocco, he held talks with King Mohammed VI.

Kushner’s new tour comes after Israeli reports revealed that President Donald Trump is trying to convene Arab leaders to a summit in the United States to review the economic phase of the plan, dubbed «Deal of the Century».
