In Midrand, MPs form Morocco and Algeria clashed during a Pan-African Parliament session held Monday. The session focused on the African Union’s 2019 theme of refugees, returnees, and internally displaced people in the continent.
On April 27, the Polisario deployed tanks to disperse angry Sahrawis, protesting against restrictions imposed by Algeria. This use of force did not stop Sahrawis from resuming their protest movement in Tindouf.
In a regional seminar held by the UN Special Committee on Decolonization, the Polisario sought the opportunity to make mention of «self-determination» and «independence». Meanwhile, Morocco sent elected representatives from the Sahara to attend the UN seminar.
