Morocco is still one of the countries that restrict freedom faith, according to the recent International Religious Freedom report issued by the USA Department of State. Despite the Kingdom’s constitution that guarantees the right to believe, Moroccan Christians, Bahais and Shias are repressed and unable to practice their faith freely.
Anti-Sharia protesters took the streets in several cities across the USA to oppose Islamic laws. Organized by Act for America, the marches considered Sharia a threat for the USA and its culture. However, the Council of American-Islamic Relations says that the rallies were «hateful anti-Islam marches».
A group of African Americans in the 1920's founded a religious organization seeking an identity. Led by Noble Drew Ali, in the state of Illinois, they called themselves Moorish referring to Morocco and embraced Islam as their faith, creating a subculture considered controversial back in the time.
