On the sidelines of the Fitur tourism exhibition in Madrid, the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) inked two major partnerships. They signed agreements with the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV) and the Portuguese Association of Travel and Travel Agencies (APAVT).

These agreements aim to make 2024 «the year of Morocco» for both institutions, with an annual action plan targeting over 5,000 members each across Spain and Portugal.

According to an ONMT press release, the partnerships will primarily focus on enhancing the perception of Morocco, raising awareness of the country's rich cultural heritage, diverse tourist destinations, and delectable gastronomy.

The deal will also work on showcasing the latest innovations in Moroccan tourism to pique the interest of tour operators. It will also help create a conducive environment for Moroccan tourism professionals to connect with Spanish and Portuguese distributors.

Additionally, the Portuguese tourism group GEA awarded Adel El Fakir, Director General of ONMT, the prestigious «Best International Destination» trophy for the Portuguese market.
