Heavy snowfall and strong winds expected in Morocco on Monday and Tuesday

The Moroccan General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange alert for heavy snowfall and strong winds expected to impact several provinces on Monday and Tuesday.

Snowfall is expected between Monday, 3:00 PM and Tuesday, 6:00 PM in the provinces of Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Khénifra, Tinghir, Azilal, Taza, Béni Mellal, Al Haouz, and Midelt. Accumulations of 20-50 cm are anticipated above 1,300 meters.

Strong winds with speeds of 75-95 km/h are forecast on Monday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM in the provinces of Al Hoceima, Figuig, Nador, Driouch, Guercif, Berkane, Jerrada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Sefrou, Taza, Boulemane, and Midelt. On Tuesday, similar winds (75-90 km/h) are predicted from 12:00 AM to 11:00 PM in the provinces of Figuig, Nador, Driouch, Boulemane, Essaouira, Errachidia, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Midelt, Tiznit, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Taroudant, Sidi Ifni, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, and Tarfaya.
