On Monday, the Benslimane Court of First Instance issued a total of 10 years in prison sentences to three individuals accused of encouraging a minor to consume alcohol.

The primary defendant received a four-year prison sentence for charges including complicity in intentional assault, specifically against a child under 15 by someone in a position of authority, as well as failing to assist a person in danger. The second defendant was sentenced to three and a half years, while the third received three years.

In the civil proceedings, the court upheld the request from the association «Matqich Waldi» («Don’t Touch My Child»), granting it a symbolic one dirham in damages.

Notably, the three men, who are brothers, appeared in a widely circulated video on social media. This footage sparked significant controversy as it showed them provoking their young nephew, a minor, to drink alcohol. They were subsequently identified and apprehended.
