The electronic ban applied on the direct flights linking Morocco to the USA will be lifted according t a communiqué released today by Royal Air Maroc (RAM). Passengers starting from Thursday will be allowed to carry laptop computers and other large electronic devices in aircraft cabins, Reuters reports.
The USA government announced on the 21st of March the ban of computers and tablets on flights coming from 10 countries including Morocco. The same security measure was taken by the UK authorities. The European country declared that passengers from six Arab countries are not allowed to carry electronic devices on flights. Morocco is not featured among the banned countries by the UK, however, Tunisia, Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have made it to the list.
The banning decision goes along with the restricted policy that is adopted by Donald Trump. The US president has translated his anti-immigration policy through the travel ban list in which he bars citizens of six-Muslim countries from entering the United States.
Last Thursday, Royal Air Maroc expects the USA authorities to stop the laptop ban by July the 19th, Reuters reports. Speaking to the English news agency, a senior official from the Moroccan airline company announced that banning passengers from carrying laptops and electronic devices is supposed to end by the end of the current month.
«Negotiations with the U.S. authorities are underway and we expect the ban to end by July 19 at the latest», said the RAM official who refused to be named.
