At the opening of the AU-EU summit King Mohammed VI has shaken hands with the Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahya while standing next to the French Minister, Emmanuel Macron.
This comes only a few days after the Moroccan ambassador to Algeria has taken up his position in Algiers, weeks after he was summoned by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to protest against the recent statement of the Algerian Foreign Minister, Abdelkader Messahel
For the record, at the Addis Ababa summit, the Peace and Security Council’s Commissioner, Ismail Charki had avoided to greet the king as he was preparing to deliver his speech marking Morocco’s admission to the African Union.
