The Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the Moroccan national carrier, as well as the country's largest airline, has announced that it is expanding its international service purchasing 4  787-9 Dreamliners – valued at $1.1 billion, said a communiqué sent on Wednesday by Boeing, an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and sells airplanes, rotorcraft, rockets, and satellites worldwide.

The carrier headquartered in Casablanca had previously made an order for five Boieng 787-8. This new transaction will boost the company fleet containing already nine 787. These aircrafts are primarily destined for North America, South America, the Middle East, as well as Europe. As a result, these four additional planes will allow the Moroccan carrier to extend its services in the aforementioned regions.

«Today Royal Air Maroc has direct flights to 80 international destinations. Thanks to our unique position as a geographic hub and high quality of service, we bring customers from all over the world to their destinations. With more than 850 flights per month to Africa, Royal Air Maroc has the broadest presence across the continent of any airline», said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO and President of Royal Air Maroc.

He added, «our vision is to be the leading airline in Africa in terms of quality of service, quality of planes and connectivity. Ordering new-generation planes such as the Dreamliner puts our airline on the right track to fulfill our vision.»

The 787-9 is 6 meters longer than the 787-8 and can carry 290 passengers and up to 14,140 kilometers. Boeing indicates that the 787-9 will reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 20%.
