Government : King Mohammed VI dismisses Finance Minister Mohamed Boussaid

Finance and Economy Minister Mohamed Boussaid was dismissed, Wednesday 1st of August, by King Mohammed VI, says MAP press agency, quoting a communiqué issued by the Royal cabinet.

The document indicates that the decision was taken in accordance with article «47 from the Moroccan Constitution» and after consulting Prime Minister Saadeddine El Othmani.

According to the same statement, «the royal decision comes as a way of implementing the principles of public accountability».

For the record, Boussaid is a member of the National Rally of Independents party. Between 2007 and 2010, he held the position of Minister of Tourism and Crafts in the cabinet of Abbas El Fassi. He was appointed «Wali» (governor) of the Souss-Massa-Drâa region in 2010 before serving as Morocco’s minister of Finance and Economy for two terms.
