On the occasion of the Revolution of the King and the People, King Mohammed VI granted his pardon to 428 inmates sentenced by the different Moroccan courts, as well as to 22 individuals convicted in extremism and terrorism cases, said a statement by the Justice ministry.
The detained beneficiaries of the pardon are 329 and are divided into:
- 325 prisoners who had their prison terms reduced.
- 04 inmates who had their prison sentences commuted from life imprisonment to fixed prison terms.
The free beneficiaries of the pardon are 99 and are divided into:
- 29 prisoners who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms.
- 02 inmates who benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while their fines were maintained.
- 04 inmates who benefited from pardon over their prison terms and fines as well.
- 64 prisoners had their fines annulled.
On the same occasion, and as a concrete expression of the Sovereign's high benevolence towards the inmates without discrimination or exception, the king, Commander of the Faithful, also granted his pardon to 22 persons convicted in extremism and terrorism cases, who participated in the second edition of the program "Reconciliation" (Moussalaha), aiming at the reintegration of these inmates and their reconciliation with society.
The program was established in partnership between the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, the State ministry for Human Rights, the ministry of Justice, the ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the National Human Rights Council, the Rabita Mohammedia des Oulémas (Mohammadia League of Scholars) and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Inmates.
The beneficiaries of this high royal initiative are divided into:
- 17 prisoners who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms.
- 03 inmates who had their prison sentences commuted from life imprisonment to fixed prison terms.
- 02 prisoners who had their prison terms reduced.
