Policemen seized Monday night 6.4 tons of cannabis resin (Chira) in the southern city of Guelmim and arrested 4 people aged between 27 and 61 for their alleged links to an international drug trafficking criminal network.
The search of a truck at the entrance of the city of Guelmim led to the seizure of 3.1 tons of cannabis resin and the arrest of the driver, national police said in a statement, adding that three other suspects were arrested on board two 4*4 vehicles not far from the scene.
Additional search operations carried out by security services at a warehouse in the region of Taghjijt, 80 km from Tata, led to the seizure of an additional quantity of 3.3 tons of the same drug, the source pointed out.
The suspects were placed on custody while investigations are underway to identify other suspects involved in this drug-trafficking operation.
