The judicial police of Oujda arrested, on Monday morning, on the basis of accurate information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), five individuals, including two Algerians, for their alleged involvement in a criminal network for international drug trade.
The National Police (DGSN) said in a statement that the suspects were arrested in several simultaneous operations carried out in the city of Oujda, Ahfir, Aïn Beni Mathar and Beni Adrar, affirming that search operations carried out in the context of this case led to the seizure of 334 kilograms of chira hidden in 12 packages, 6 cars and a sum of money.
The suspects were remanded in police custody to complete the investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, while investigations are continuing to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, the statement added.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts of the DGSN and the DGST to fight against international drug trafficking.
