The judicial police of Sale thwarted, on Tuesday evening, an irregular immigration operation and arrested an individual for his alleged link with a criminal network operating in the organization of irregular migration and human trafficking.

The suspect, aged 35, was arrested, red-handed while preparing an irregular immigration operation by sea, during a security operation carried out in Hay Chemaou in Salé, said a press release from the national police (DGSN), adding that the suspect was hosting, in a house in the same neighborhood, 14 Moroccan citizens as candidates for irregular immigration using a small-scale fishing boat.

The search operation conducted in the Kasbah des Gnaouas coastal zone led to the seizure of a fishing boat carrying 11 jerrycans filled with 300 liters of gasoline and rescue and sea navigation equipment, added the same source, specifying that this material was meant to be used for this irregular immigration operation.

The suspect was placed in police custody as part of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office in order to determine the ins and outs of this case and the possible links and ramifications of this criminal network, while the would-be immigrants were subjected to the preliminary investigation, according to the same source.
